AI is accelerating vulnerability discovery. Remediation backlogs are growing harder to justify. And boards are asking a more direct question: are we actually reducing risk - and what is it costing us not to?

Join a small group of security, engineering and technology leaders for an off-the-record dinner on turning vulnerability data into the metrics that drive board-level decisions.

The Conversation Has Changed. Has Your Reporting?

AI is accelerating vulnerability discovery and exploitation, while critical backlogs are becoming harder to justify. Yet security reporting still focuses on activity - findings detected, tickets closed and remediation speed - rather than businness impact.

Boards need to understand what exposure means for engineering capacity, operational resilience, customer impact and cost. Because activity isn't assurance and fewer open tickets don't necessarily mean less risk.

Five Metrics for the AI Era

The discussion will centre on five metrics that help translate vulnerability management into a language the board can use.

1. Vulnerability backlog as people-hour debt - What is the true cost of the backlog? Translate open vulnerabilities into estimated engineering effort, engineer-years and fully loaded remediation costs. Make the opportunity cost of carrying exposure visible - and give the board a tangible basis for resourcing decisions.

2. Vulnerability accural rate - Is the estate actually getting safer? Measure the rate at which new critical and high vulnerabilities enter the environment. Remediation speed matter, but so does the inflow. If vulnerabilities arrive faster than teams can resolve them, a better-looking dashboard may conceal a worsening position.

3. Operational disruption from emergency patching - What is the business impact of fixing things late? Track the frequency and consequences of unplanned remediation: release freezes, degraded services, change failures, and disruption to engineering priorities. Connect security exposure to operational resilience and customer impact.

4. Total open critical and high vulnerabilities - How many matter - and where are they? Retain the headline volume, but make it meaningful. Break findings down by internet exposure, material systems, age, SLA status and accepted exceptions. Help the board distinguish background noise from vulnerabilities that could have material consequence.

5. Mean time to remediate, measured as containment - Are we reducing exposure quickly enough? Look beyond ticket-closure speed. Examine whether critical and high vulnerabilities are contained before exposure becomes material, how long meaningful risk persists, and how much remediation happens through routine processess rather than emergency intervention.
